About ESA 2025

We invite you to the traditional lands of the Kaurna people, for ESA 2025.

The ecological world around us is facing critical change. Biodiversity is truly on the brink. But positive change can still make a difference, and bold actions can help protect a resilient future.

Coming together to explore the fresh ideas and bold decisions we need to deliver sustainable solutions is more important than ever.

Creating compelling stories that engage and inspire a broader audience supports the cohesive community approach needed to drive positive action.

By sharing insights, experience, and evidence-based research that nurtures a deeper understanding of ecological systems and the critical need for sound environmental policies, effective conservation and management, we can all play a significant role as change-makers.

ESA 2025 will highlight the important science of ecology in Australia – across all its varied forms – and offer valuable opportunities to collaborate and strengthen the connections between theory, research, policy and measurable real-world outcomes.

We look forward to uniting with collective power at ESA 2025 to connect, innovate and be bold for biodiversity.

About our ESA 2025 Logo

Our ESA2025 logo has been designed with care to celebrate Australia’s precious biodiversity.

This year’s conference theme has biodiversity – and the need for the bold actions we must take to protect it – at its heart.

The logo encapsulates both the fragility and resilience of our natural environment – illustrated through some iconic South Australian flora and fauna.

One of Australia’s smallest birds, the endangered Mallee emu-wren (Stipiturus mallee), perches on a branch of the rare endemic South Australian shrub, the Narrow-leaf Ray-flower (Anthocercis angustifolia), while the backdrop of the burnished orange, fiery red and terracotta dirt of the Flinders Ranges helps tell the ancient story of the enduring landscape beyond our conference location in Adelaide, on the traditional Country of the Kaurna people.

To highlight the beauty of our marine life, the leafy sea-dragon (Phycodurus eques) is presented in all its intricate glory, with the background palette of pale and deep blues reflecting the tranquility and drama of our vast oceans and waterways.
